Do varmint calibres (.22-250) have any advantage in accuracy over larger calibres (.308 Win)?

The advantage of a fast projectile is that you can sight in for 200 yds and pretty much hold straight on out to 250 at least and still hit the target. At longer ranges, the range estimation does not have to be as exact as with a slower bullet.
