Does Steven King like Ann Coulter?

I just watched the TV movie based on his book "Desperation". Near the end one of the characters demands of an evil spirit in the name of a few people. The only one I recognized was Coulter. Why did he do this? Were all the people authors, like the character? Did this happen in the book?
